Music videos differentiate themselves to other TV texts by having: a large range of shots-lasting 4 seconds ; large number of locations and fast pace editing. Music videos, unlike other TV texts make the audience aware that the music video is actually what it seems, not a TV text that is using continuity editing to represent reality.

The typical genre conventions of our chosen music video includes: Boy gets girl; boy looses girl; boy gets girl back. However within our music video: Boy takes girls heart; boy takes another girls hearts; boy take syet anouther girls hearts; first girl gets her heart back.

The artist we have chosen is an unsigned artist, with a small fan base and a small collection of songs. Our production has been influenced by Evanescence’s ‘My immortal’ as it is also a love song and it is in black and white which we hope to include in our video. We hope to make our music video correspond with existing examples of our genre by using: Slow pace editing; black and white colours; red to symbolize love to relate to the atmosphere within the music video and genre.
