Evanescence - My Immortal

This song is called 'My Immortal' by 'Evanescence.' We thought we would research further into more sinister  and darker music videos to give us ideas of how to make our own music video much more suited to our chosen song.

This video's narrative isn't as sinister as 'Kelly Clarkson - Behind These Hazel Eyes,' however the mood that the music video creates due to the black and white effect used helps distinguish that the song and music video are in the love, depressing, gothic genre. The use of black and white in this music video represents how depressed and upset the lead singer Amy Lee is feeling. The colour and lighting in this music video shows how plain and emotionless she is feeling now she is heartbroken.

The white colours used in this music video are also very vivid when the singer is performing solo to the camera.  Whilst Amy Lee is singing in some of the music video's shots, she is completely isolated in abandoned locations to represent her singing and expressing herself in her own mind. The locations are perhaps places she escapes to inside of her head when feeling so confused, upset and depressed.

The use of black and white colours could be used in our music video to create a similar mood to correspond well with our song. We could also try and include the idea of having Christina Perri in isolated, white locations while she is performing to the camera to try and create the same mental imagery created in this music video.
