Kelly Clarkson - Behind These Hazel Eyes

As we have stated before, our teacher and class thought we should make our music video correspond with the song more by making the music video more sinister and dark, as they though the original idea was to light to go with the song itself! This is 'Kelly Clarkson's' song 'Behind These Hazel Eyes.'

We could possibly base our music video around this music video and its conventions due to the darkness and eerie mood set within the mise-en-scene and the narrative. The use of the dark and decayed locations really adds a gothic and emotional tone to the music video.

The costume was especially significant to the music video as the wedding dress itself is an iconic image that associated with love, marriage and happiness. To see such a beautiful and meaningful dress being ruined by the dirt, water and forest suggests that the love inside her heart is going through the same as the wedding dress.

The way in which the start of the music video is brightly lit and sets a really positive mood, that shows how happy Kelly Clarkson was before she got jilted at the alter. Then as her heart is broken, the lights are suddenly dimmed and the dark, depressing mood engulfs the screen, which reflect the characters emotions and correspond well with the song lyrics themselves.
